To disseminate the advanced knowledge to the students in various branches pharmaceutical sciences Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research popularly known as DIPSAR DPSRU stands committed towards getting the best possible opportunities for its students by providing them with a thriving platform and the best exposure.
Since 1998 through innovative teaching-learning processes with inter-disciplinary approach DIPSAR targets to achieve center of excellence for research and amongst the first series of Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) centers of All India Council for Technical Education.
DPSRU has concluded its final placement for the year 2017 and is closer to 100% placement of eligible and interested students in leading National & Multinational companies at all levels.
According to Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, our goal to establish this university is to encourage students for, acquiring self-confidence, self- respect and self-dependence and moral values in students making them well disciplined; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people from the health point of view.
Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, said, “As the University marches into its third year of existence, a vibrancy is being felt in the campus that witnessed several conferences including the International Conference on Herbal drugs being inaugurated by Hon. Chancellor and Lt. Governor Anil Baijal, 4 workshops, 3 seminars, 17 guest lecturers that provided an interactive learning to the students. Recognition of our University by AICTE, PCI and DCPTOT for various courses is another milestone this year.”

Successful starting of incubator Center (DPSRU Incubation and Innovation Center) by worthy hands of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and beginning of 9 start ups with over 20 lined up, is another landmark in the University. The MoUs were signed with not only hospitals and research institutions of India but also International Universities (Stavropol Medical University, Russia and Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia), International companies like PSS and Research institutions of National Importance like THSTI and INMAS, DRDO.
It is a pleasure to now look forward to new faces of students blossomed with enthusiasm and commitment for the studies joining the next session at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU). Although, DPSRU is just three years old University, started in 2015, it has strong legacy of 54 years eg college of pharmacy started in 1964, upgraded to research institute in 2004, Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research popularly known as DIPSAR with center of excellence for research and amongst the first series of Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) centers of All India Council for Technical Education since 1998. DIPSAR conduct four QIP programmes in 2017-18 and now is the nodal center for QIP for AICTE in different centers of India. After getting the status of University, the intake capacity of the Diploma, UG and PG/Ph.D. courses increased from 180 and 35 in 2014-15 to 400 and 120 in 2017-18 respectively.

Courses
The number of courses being offered in Diploma, UG and PG / Ph.D. also increased from 2 and 6 in 2014-15 to 5 and 15 excluding Ph.D. courses in 2017-18. From 2018-19 we are starting many other new courses like PG Diploma in Clinical research with Apollo Hospital Research & Education (AHRE), Skill development courses in sports sciences, Cosmeceutics, and Physician Assistant Diploma. Our faculty members are putting up their best through their excellence in research as depicted from the number of publication (over 200 from just 23 regular staff with 2 patents filed), and awards (47 awards to these faculty). This has brought a good networking of industries and thereby good placements.
To have effective administration on academics and research, along with close monitoring, the university holds regular meeting of Academic Council, Finance Committee and Board of Governors. In addition to academic activities, various extra- curricular activities are organized within and outside the campus of the university. Some of such activities include celebrations of World Physiotherapy Day, World Pharmacy Day, National Pharmacy Week, Independence Day, Republic Day, National Voter’s Day, Annual Sports Day and National Science Day, in addition to festivals like Vasant Panchmi, Lohri etc. I acknowledge mentors of the university, teaching and non teaching staff and alumni for their costant support. Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU), is the first Pharmacy University of India, established by an Act 7 of 2008 of State Legislature of Delhi as a State University and is empowered to award degrees as specified by the UGC. The University is recognized by UGC under section 2f. NBA had accredited M. Pharm. (Pharmacology) at DIPSAR, the constituent college of the University. Various courses of our University are approved by statutory bodies like Pharmacy Council of India (PCI); All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Delhi Council for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (DCPOT).
The University is the approved center to run Skill Development Courses. AJourney in Brief Profession of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has been one of the most dynamic fields in the healthcare system that has undergone several paradigms shifts in last century. Beginning with simple plant based dispensing of drugs; it changed to chemistry based modern medicines with industrial th revolution in the world. The profession of pharmacy in 20 century shifted from ‘product oriented pharmaceutical sciences to patient-centered system by which pharmacists started to assume new responsibility as clinical pharmacist.
The traditional pharmacy education also changed from production oriented knowledge development to clinical and hospital based training institutions or colleges of pharmacy. With advances in genomic technologies, and personalized medicine, the profession of pharmacy cannot remain in a single capsule of mere pharmacy institution but requires expansion to the level of University wherein, various disciplines can come together to keep pace with the development and provide effective means of health care need to the world. The journey of the University started in 1964 as Department of Pharmacy of Department of Delhi Training and Technology Education, Government of Delhi. It became ‘College of Pharmacy’ with the starting of B. Pharm. course in 1972. M. Pharm. course was also added and in 1979 moved from small Polytechnic at Kashmiri Gate to bigger campus Pushp Vihar, South Delhi.
Keeping pace with developments of clinical pharmacy in India it got upgraded to Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) and now enacted as the University, the first University of Pharmacy in India.
The University has currently following units like Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR), School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences and School of Physiotherapy, Academy of Sports Sciences Research and Management, DPSRU Innovation & Incubation Foundation (DIIF), Yoga and Fitness Centre The university now runs D. Pharm. B. Pharm. M. Pharm. (Cosmeceutics, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Analysis, B.Sc. (Sports Science) with pharmacy focus and certificate courses in Yoga. From 2018-19, several new courses have been planned including post-graduate courses in sports sciences and genemic based drug delivery.

Placements
Placement 2017-2018 University and its constituent college jointly have active training and placement cell for the recruitment activities in the campus in association with Student Placement Representatives. The placement cell, DPSRU stands committed towards getting the best possible opportunities for its students by providing them with a thriving platform and the best exposure. The aim of the placement cell is to provide employment opportunities, including self employment and admission for higher studies in reputed institutes, for the students, commensurate with their specialization & caliber and to place maximum students in reputed companies. To achieve this aim, the university conducts skill enhancement programmes and continuously interacts with the industries to update the current requirements of industry for the students.
The university has left no stone unturned to bring the biggest names in the industry on campus. Be it the R&D giant, Pfizer or Quintiles IMS, each and every company that has visited the college so far has been amazed by the talent the students have to offer. During 2017-18, the university witnessed participation of various esteemed organizations offering roles across various domains including clinical research, business analysis, production, quality assurance, research & development, hospital & community pharmacy and sales & marketing. Various companies including WNS (Value-edge), Quintiles IMS, Cipla, Pfizer, Complete Heors solutions, Astrazeneca, ZS Associates, DRG, Eli-Lilly, Novartis, Parexal International, Abbott Healthcare, BresMed, Walter Bushnell, Jubilient Generics, Turacoz, Mankind, Bioinnovat, Troikaa Pharmaceuticals, Cognitrex, Integral Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. Fortis, Meril Life Sciences, Mumbai, Sanyog Entreprise, WrigNon etc. participated in the recruitment process of our students.
The companies offered package of 8.5 to 7.5 lacs for Ph.D., 7.0 to 5.5 lacs for M.Pharm. and 3.5 to 4.5 lacs for B.Pharm. Students. The university is always a trend setter. Continuing with it, the placement cell of university also guides the students in professionalism, presentation techniques, group discussion techniques, interview skills and new technology trends & developments in the industry and motivates them for self employment, start-ups and entrepreneurship. Two of our M. Pharm. students have started their own start-ups for Pharmaceutical and allied Health Sciences. One of our Ph.D. student is selected for grant for starting his own venture.


Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Vice Chancellor of the First University of Pharmacy in India Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University. He has been previously Vice-Chancellor of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Executive Director (Research & strategies) at V ClinBio Labs., Chennai, Director (Pharmacology) at NMIMS University, Mumbai; Director ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab and Professor at L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad.
He has over 40 years of experience in Teaching and Research particularly in Cardiovascular Pharmacology & Diabetes. He was a post-doctoral scholar and visiting scientist at in Canadian universities He is has been the Chairman of CRC of AICTE, Bhopal and Member, EC of AICTE, New Delhi. Currently is is the Member of Task Force, Committee for Herbal Group, Indian Council of Medical research,, Member, Indian Pharmacopoieal Commission, CDSCO, Govt. of India.
Dr Goyal has three patents, 18 books, 26 book chapters, over 311 full papers (‘h’ index 40), over 550 abstracts published in National and International journals. He has guided 44 Ph.D. and 179 M. Pharm. students. He is the recipient of 65 awards, including Best Pharmacy Teacher and Best Pharmaceutical Research Scientist from APTI and Life Time Achievement & Distinguished Service Awards from International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, Canada (IACS)..
He is the Fellow of seven professional bodies (FIPS, FIACS, FAMS, FIC, FICN, FNASc. FSCH). He has been the President of Indian Pharmacological Society, Society of Pharmacovigilance, India and Indian Society of Hypertension (2012). He is currently the Vice President of IACS, (India Chapter). He has attended number of seminars, workshops and conferences as resource Person and chaired various sessions. Dr. Goyal has been invited to deliver about 216 lectures in India and 29 lectures abroad.
He has worked on anti-diabetic herbal plants from preclinical to clinical studies and identified biomarkers not only for quality assessment but also as leads for specific targets involved in the prevention of cardiovascular complications associated with diabetes. He has also been involved in research related to personalized medicine and new drug development through 505 2(b) mode. He also served as the Expert member for the Indian Medicinal Plants Review being published by ICMR, New Delhi
